Usporedba prvog i drugog mjerenja predstavlja uvijete bez upoznavanja sportaša s protokolom mjerenja, a usporedba drugog i trećeg mjerenja predstavlja uvijete sa upoznavanjem sportaša s protokolom mjerenja.
Abstract (english) In recent years velocity based training (VBT) is getting more popular in both science and training practice. One of the most popular devices for assessing repetition velocity in resistance training is Gymaware PowerTool system. In order for practitioners to safely plan and program the training process based on repetition velocity, the device must, first and foremost, be reliable. The aim of this study was to determine the level of reliability of GYM system for estimating the repetition velocity in deadlift and squat exercises. The research was conducted on the sample of 16 subjects, 10 males and 6 females of mean age 26±5 years. All subjects were measured during 4 testing sessions. Subjects were assigned percentages representing the load range based on the 1RM protocol (30%, 45%, 60%, 75%, and 90% of 1RM). At these loads they performed 3 identical testing sessions using GYM system for assessing repetition velocity. Comparison of first and second testing sessions was imitating the terms with familiarization of the athlete with the testing protocol and comparison of the second and third was imitating the terms without the familiarization of the athlete with the testing protocol. Measured variables were: (1) mean velocity (m/s), (2) peak velocity (m/s), (3) mean power (W) and (4) peak power (W). Statistical methods used in this study to determine the reliability of the observed variables were one-way repeated measures analysis of variance (ANOVA), intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC), coefficient of variation (CV) and standard error of measurement (SEM). Intraclass correlation coefficient ranged from 0.62-0.99 in deadlift and 0.78-0.99 in squat. Coefficient of variation ranged from 2.2-10.6% in deadlift and 2.6-6.9% in squat. For velocity and power tests, standard error of measurement ranged from 0.03-0.08 m/s and 20-176 W. Test-retest reliability of the GYM system for assessing repetition velocity in squat and deadlift was varying between good to excellent in all analyzed loads. It seems that the familiarization of the athlete with the testing protocol may further improve the reliability of this test, but this needs to be confirmed in future studies involving larger samples.
