Mjerni instrumenti u ovom istraživanju su tjelesna visina i težina djeteta, te baterija testova ''Test of Gross Motor Development 2 – TGMD2'' (Urlich, 2000) i “Bruininks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency – Second Edition” (BOT-2) (Bruininks i Bruininks, 2005). Uzorak varijabli činit će Indeks tjelesne mase djeteta (izračunat na temelju izmjerene tjelesne visine i tjelesne mase djeteta), ukupni rezultat u testu TGMD2, standardizirani rezultat lokomotornih znanja i standardizirani rezultat manipulativnih znanja. Glavni rezultati istraživanja nisu prikazali značajnu povezanost motoričkih znanja djece različitog stanja uhranjenosti na temelju indeksa tjelesne mase. U grupi djece do pet godina i u grupi djece iznad pet godina rezultati nisu prikazali značajne razlike u lokomotornim i manipulativnim znanjima te ukupnom motoričkom indeksu djece različitog stupnja uhranjenosti. Normalno uhranjena i mršavija djeca imaju bolju razinu motoričkih sposobnosti. Ranim intervencijama od strane roditelja, učitelja, nastavnika i trenera potrebno je stvoriti pozitivno ozračje u kojem će potaknuti manje sposobnu i pretilu djecu ka bavljenju organiziranim sportskim aktivnostima i redovitom tjelesnom aktivnošću.
Abstract (english) The epidemic of childhood and youth obesity is on the rise and represents one of the leading public health threats to today’s modern society (WHO, 2020). It is considered that the development of fundamental movement skill in today's children is not at a satisfactory level. Disorders in growth and development, insufficient level of physical activity and motor competence, and obesity are some of the reasons for the underdevelopment of elementary movement patterns (Barnett, 2016). The main goal of this study is to determine differences in motor skills and abilities of children of different nutritional status based on body mass index. The research was conducted on a random sample of 897 (431 girls, 466 boys) preschool children, participants in state kindergartens from different parts of the Republic of Croatia. The average age of the children covered was five years. The measuring instruments in this study are the child's body height and weight, and the battery of tests "Test of Gross Motor Development 2 - TGMD2" (Urlich, 2000) and "Bruininks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency - Second Edition" (BOT-2) (Bruininks and Bruininks, 2005). The sample of variables will consist of the Child Body Mass Index (calculated based on the measured body height and body weight of the child), the total score in the TGMD2 test, the standardized score of locomotor skill and the standardized score of manipulative skill. The main results of the study did not show a significant correlation between the motor skills of children of different nutritional status based on body mass index. In the group of children up to five years of age and in the group of children over five years of age, the results did not show significant differences in locomotor and manipulative skills and the overall motor index of children with different levels of nutritional status. In the group of children over five years of age, the results showed a significant association between motor skills and motor abilites (BOT2) and groups of children according to nutritional status. Children with obesity achieved significantly poorer results. Normally fed and leaner children have a better level of motor abilites. Early interventions by parents, teachers, trainers and coaches need to create a positive atmosphere in which they will encourage less skilled and children with obesity to engage in organized sports activities and regular physical activity.
