Abstract Povijesno gledano, košarka u invalidskim kolicima relativno je mlad sport.
Abstract (english) Historically, wheelchair basketball has been a relatively young sport. It has been actively playing in Croatia since the 1970s. With the development of kinesiology as a profession and the Paralympic movement in general, wheelchair basketball also developed. Today WC basketball has become one of the most popular and most watched sports of the Summer Paralympic Games. It is slowly gaining its well-deserved popularity also in Croatia, where 8 wheelchair basketball clubs are currently active. Some of the Croatian clubs have developed their game so much that today they even play in strong European leagues. The rules of wheelchair basketball are similar to classic valid basketball in terms of lineup, team composition and duration of the game. However, what is specific about wheelchair basketball is the classification of players. Any player, no matter how much functional ability he possessed, cannot compete in official IWBF matches if he does not have an official ID card. This card is issued by the official IWBF commission in charge of player classification. The classification strictly determines the composition of the team. At any time the sum of the classification points of the players on the field must not exceed 14 if it is a national team or 14.5 if we are talking about club competitions. The classification of players is described in detail in the paper, as well as the basic methodological exercises for player preparation.
