Abstract Utjecaj modernoga načina života, nedostatak kretanja te nerazumijevanje vlastitog tijela povećavaju mogućnost za nastanak ozljeda i smanjivanje kvalitete života.
Sposobnost kvalitetnog kretanja i smanjenje rizika za ozljedu adekvatnom edukacijom i širenjem svijesti o važnosti pravilne lokomocije uvelike će pomoći općoj populaciji u poboljšanju kvalitete života i održavanju samostalnosti kroz život.
Abstract (english) The influence of a modern lifestyle, lack of movement and lack of understanding of our own body increase the possibility of injuries and significantly reduces the quality of life. One of the goals of this paper was to find optimal posture as a starting point towards optimizing movement patterns. Researches of the posture and its correlation with pain is quite confusing. There are no adequate studies to establish that certain postures are harmful and cause pain. People nowadays spend great amount of time not moving at all, sitting approximately eight hours a day without even seeking an optimal sitting posture. That also gives unclear results when it comes to researchers. There are no studies that can clearly say that one sitting posture is optimal, or that certain sitting postures are really bad.
While searching for locomotor system optimization tools we can find „Joint by joint“ principle really helpful. Joint by joint principle emphasizes the importance and function of joint structures. Optimal stability and mobility of the joints combined with optimal strength is really important link to keep our body healthy and logivious. While looking at everyday's life we can see some activities and movements that are irreplaceable, for example gait and squat. By studying and understanding gait, certain deviations and errors can be noticed and corrected in order to optimize the use of the musculoskeletal system. Any deviations from the optimal way of walking can be seen through thorough observation and the deviations can be removed by certain exercises and actions. The same goes for the squat or any other movement. Removing mistakes in a bad movement pattern is irreplaceable action in eliminating pain and raising the quality of life. Kinesiotherapists and physiotherapists play a great role in improving the quality of life of athletes and the general population. The ability of quality movement and lowering the chance for injury through adequate education by raising awareness and importance of good locomotion have a large impact to make life much better for average population and also contributes to easier maintenance of independent living during the advanced stage of life.
