Abstract (english) The aim of this study is determine load and competitive requirements during a 1000 kilometers bike race divided into 4 stages. 3 recreational cyclists age: 37,93±9,9 year; height: 182,63±6,9 and body mass: 90,44±8,8 kilograms have voluntarily agreed to participate in the research. The main parameters for data monitoring and analysis are: power, heart rate and rate of perceived exertion (RPE). Initial testing in diagnostic center at Faculty of Kinesiology in Zagreb intensity zones have been identified. Values were obtained at aerobic threshold, anaerobic threshold and maximal oxygen uptake in the variables power and heart rate. Main event: 1000 km bicycle race, began 9 days after initial testing. The variables monitored during the competition are: power, heart rate and RPE. Participants rode a personal bicycle equipped with power meter and a cyclocomputer, and around the chest it was worn heart rate measurement tape. RPE was collected every 3 hours using a spreadsheet and a ballpoint pen by participants. A difference in time spent was found in the variables power and heart rate during the stages. RPE remained without significant changes during the stages. The results show the most time spent in zone 1 in the variable of power, zone 2 in the variable of heart rate and in zone 1 in the RPE variable. It can be concluded how cycling race at 1000 kilometers leads to a progressive decline in average power, heart rate and a slight increase in RPE. Given the characteristics and the results obtained, preparation for ultra long competitions requires high training extent (30-40 hours per week) combined with low intensity. It takes the most time to spend in zone 1 (70%), zone 2 (25%) and zone 3 (5%).
