Abstract (english) The main goal of this thesis was to examine the habits of warming up prior to physical activity in an amateur folk dance groups and to get a wider picture of the preparations done before folk dance training. The research was conducted based on the answers from the anonymus online questionnaire wihich consisted of 12 questions. The questionnaire gathered 100 female and 39 male respondents with the age between 14 and 60 years old. The respondents were a part of 41 different amateur folk dance gropus.
The results showed that of all the dance groups 37 (87,8%) of them practices regular warm-up prior to dance training. The duration of warm-up is 10 minutes in 17 (47,2%) groups, while the rest of the groups practices warm-up in the duration of 5 or 15 minutes. The number of dance training sessions per week also varies. Two sessions per week are performed by 27 (65,9%) groups, 1 session by 12 (29,2%) groups and 3 sessions by 2 (4,9%) groups. The duration of sessions varies between 60 and 120 minutes. And so, 120 minute sessions are performed by 24(58,5%) groups, only 1 group performs 60 minute sessions, while the rest of the groups perform 90 minute sessions. Of all the respondents, 125 of them considers warm-up to be importan tor very important prior to dance training, which matches with the questionnaires results. The results also show that the 81 respondents engage in physical activity outside the folk dance group, while 29 (20,9%) of the respondents suffered un injury while performing dance training. Because of the limited information on the injuries it cannot be claimed with certainty that the folk dance activity is the main cause of the injury.
The inclusion of kinesiologist in the amateur folk dance groups for the sake of improving the quaily of the groups and to increase the safety of engagaing in the folk dance activity is a big step forward for the folk amateurism in Croatian Republic.
