Abstract

Obesity is a disease of modern society and public health problem that occurs all over the world with a significant increase in the USA and Western Europe . Overweight and obesity occur already during pre-puberty and create big problems in the development and the quality of life with the possibility of creating some non contagious diseases that may occur later in life. Habits that children adoptedmay significantly affect their health , especially nutritional habits because children at this age are becoming more independent and choose alone what to eat. What are these habits and in what measure can affect the nutritional status of 11 -year-old children is the goal of research involving school children from several primary schools in the city. The questionnaire was filled by 110 students, 99 of them had complete data, 56 girls and 43 boys, questions was related to dietary habits, habits of going to sleep and physical activity habits. For the study used data from the questionnaire : «Questionnaire NUTRITION AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY FOR STUDENTS» - environmental factors of energy consumption in physical activity 10-11 - year-old children : an international comparison(USA, Slovenia, Croatia). The results show that there is no significant difference in statistic by the habits of consumption fruits, vegetables and the number of daily meals from the children who are normal weight, overweight and obese children. There is a significant difference by statistic, indicating that children with normal weight often consume a meal after 20 hours.
