Abstract (english) Functional movement screen(s) (FMS) stability and mobility and potential imbalances of the locomotor system were assessed. Data were collected on shoulder mobility, rotational stability, bilateral mobility and stability of the hips, knee and ankle, stability and control of pelvic position and abdominal wall. The aim of the research was to determine whether there is a difference in the results of bilateral FMS tests based on which it can be concluded the persistence of asymmetry or imbalance of the left and right sides of the body in swimmers. The collected data were described by descriptive statistics, and the differences in the left and right sides were compared with the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The research proved a statistically significant difference in the bilateral FMS shoulder mobility test (SML - SMD (Z = 2.072 and p = 0.038)). In the remaining four bilateral FMS tests (HS, ILL, ASLR, RS) there are no statistically significant differences. The data on the existence of imbalances is certainly an important indicator that in the training process must pay attention to the symmetrical and mutual development of mobility, stability and functionality of movements with the aim of better performance in swimming and reducing the likelihood of injury.
