Abstract (english) Recovery is indispensable variable in the athletes conditioning preparatory process and must not be excluded. Iti s known that adaptations of organism on training stimuli happen during recovery, therefore, coaches, sports doctors and scientists are in the constant search for better recovery methods. Inadequate recovery can also negatively affect on athletes abilities to perform in next training session and increase risk of overtraining and injury. One of the commonly used methods of recovery are cooling methods. They imply application of cold water, ice or liquid nitrogen in the period of few minute, most often used immideatley after exhausting activity. Cooling methods that exist are cold water immersion, contrast water immersion, whole body cryotherapy and partial body cryotherapy in cryogenic chambers, cold massages, cold drinks, cooling vests and ice packs. Therefore, the aim of this paper is reviewing scientific literature present and explain the effects of cooling methods in recovery of athletes organism, his motor abilities and to enclose specific recommendations for their use.
