Abstract

Manjak tjelesne aktivnosti dovodi do mnogih zdravstvenih problema bez obzira na dob i spol čovjeka. Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je utvrditi vrijednosti parametara za utvrđivanje funkcionalnosti pokreta na populaciji urbanih adolescenata te moguće spolne različitosti. Istraživanje je napravljeno na velikom broju ispitanika (n=730) dobno homogene adolescentske populacije (16-17 god.). Za procjenu funkcionalnog pokreta korišten je FMS™, dijagnostički instrument koji kroz sedam osnovnih pokreta procjenjuje stabilnost i pokretljivost kao temelje funkcionalnog pokreta. Rezultati ovog istraživanja pokazuju nešto više vrijednosti FMS ukupnog broja bodova kod djevojčica u odnosu na dječake (12,7 naspram 12,2) (p=0,006). Također, spolne razlike postoje u nekoliko pojedinačnih testova, ali ne i u broju asimetrija. Dječaci su pokazali bolje rezultate u testu sklek i rotacijska stabilnost, dok su djevojčice bile bolje u iskoraku na liniji, pokretljivosti ramena i u testu aktivnog podizanja noge. Međutim, testovi duboki čučanj i prekorak nisu pokazali značajnu razliku među spolovima. Rezultati ove studije pokazuju nedovoljno dobre rezultate za sigurno bavljenje naprednijim oblicima tjelesne aktivnosti kao što je sport ponajviše zbog općeg nedostatka pokretljivosti odnosno stabilnosti. Iznimni praktični značaj ovih rezultata treba se uzeti u obzir prilikom primjene FMS-a kao dijagnostičkog instrumenta kod procjene funkcionalnog pokreta u prosječnoj adolescentskoj populaciji.

Abstract (english)

Lack of physical activity could lead to many health issues regardles of age and gender. The purpose of this study was to determine functional movement in urban adolescents and to examine gender differences. The study was conducted on a large, representative sample (n=730) of adolescent population (16-17 yrs). We used the functional movement screen (FMS™) for the assessment of the functional movement. It is screening tool which evaluates seven basic movements that are fundamental for the functional movement. Results show slightly better scores among girls compared to boys (12,7 vs. 12,2; p=0,006). In addition, differences were noted in several individual functional movement patterns, but not regarding the number of assymetries. Specifically, boys showed better results in pushup and rotary stability tests, whereas girls outperformed boys in inline lunge, active straight leg raise and shoulder mobility tests. The remaining two movements, deep squat and hurdle step faild to show gender differences in score distribution. All in all, these results show that movement quality deficit is highly prevalent among adolescents. The observed movement patterns, especially the lack of mobility and stability could lead to increased risk of injuries related to physical activity. Thus, the quality precedes the quantity in terms of physical activity and functional movement is synonym for biomechanicaly correct movement and in such a manner should be implemented more frequently. The results of present study should be considered while using FMS as a movement quality assessment among adolescent population.
